Crochet for beginners
Have you ever thought about trying to crochet but wasn’t sure where to start? This blog is for you then! I am going to give you a few pointers and ideas on how to start crocheting for beginners.
I learned the basics at a very young age because my mom crocheted. She taught me how, though I really only knew the basics of starting and how to do a single stitch and double stitch. To this day I still don’t really have down all the lingo or am able to read a pattern.
Crafting you could say is something that ran in the family. My grandma knitted and quilted. While I have not tried to knit, I love making quilts.
I love to crochet though it is only something I do in the fall and winter. It is very relaxing, and when you have 5 kids running around the house making noise trust me you need something to relax you.
Though I learned when I was very young the basics of crochet I really did not crochet much till about 5 years ago. I think it was more of an I can save money if I make the kids’ winter hats for them kind of mentality. So, I started back up and fell in love with the fact that I was able to make my kids whatever hat they wanted for the year.
I jumped on YouTube to pick up some pointers. Here is a video that to show you how to do the magic loop. This is the easiest way to start your hat. Like I said before I really can’t read a pattern, so I am going to explain in straightforward lingo how I do it.
Here is a short video because I am visual and thought it would be easier to explain by showing you.
I hope you found this helpful. Feel free to contact me with questions. I love helping people!
